About Katie

Katie McCoach, KM EditorialThanks for visiting KM Editorial, LLC. My name is Katie McCoach and I am a developmental book editor, or, you can also call me a content editor. What does that mean? It means I work with writers and authors of all kinds (new, self-published, and traditional) and in many genres to help a writer develop their story into the best possible version it can be. I LOVE seeing authors succeed, and my goal is that working together will be a stepping-stone in getting you there. As my motto states;

Let’s create your best story!

Maybe you are a first time author—you’ve just finished the first draft of your manuscript and on top of being proud (as you should be!) you are also suddenly overwhelmed. What’s next?  Here is where I come in! On my blog I discuss steps to take after writing that first draft, options for self-editing, and why hiring a developmental editor (like me!) is extremely beneficial to your ultimate goal; publishing your best work!

OR, maybe you are publishing your second or third book in a series and you need a fresh pair of eyes to catch what you are too close to catch.

After many years of working closely with writers of all genres, receiving my Bachelors of Arts in Creative Writing, as well as Communications, and even a stint alongside a lit agency based in NYC, I’ve developed the instinct and passion to know what a reader truly wants and how to boost an author’s work to that level. I work with writers to bring out the strengths, find plot holes, address characterization, hit the target audience, and more. Several of my authors have even won awards. Don’t just take my word for it though. Read what clients have to say on my testimonials page.

A little more about me: I am originally from the East coast, so I have a great appreciation for changing seasons and cold weather…which is exactly why I now live in Los Angeles. 🙂 I cannot resist a day full of sunlight! However, I do at times miss autumn, the smell of an entire neighborhood with lit fireplaces, and cracking open Old Bay covered blue crabs in the summertime. As you can imagine I love a good book (YA/NA and romance are my go-to’s). I am a member of Romance Writers of America, Contemporary Romance Writers, and LARA. I have participated as a judge for the 2015-2017 Golden Heart Awards, as well as the 2014 and 2017 Stiletto Contest. Most recently, I’ve participated as a featured editor in the RevPit annual contest. And sometimes you can catch me at a speaking event. I love connecting with book lovers alike, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
