Sweet Temptations: The Babysitter by Dark Inferno is a well-written erotica eBook. It’s very short – just 35 pages, and it is a fast read – I finished it in one sitting; I think it took about a half hour. I was pulled in pretty quick by the main character, Richard and what’s going on in his life. I knew that obviously this story would have a focus on the babysitter, so I was waiting for it to get to that point and I was interested to see how it would come about.

The story starts at a work party that Richard’s attended with his wife. At first his wife sounds a little controlling (would flip if he drank), but then she comes over and catches Richard’s hot boss kind of hitting on him and the wife just makes out with him like crazy. While this is happening I’m thinking, man, this guy is wanted by different women and he has a wife who clearly still gets him hot and bothered…so why will another temptation even come to light? His life is great as it is, why complicate it?

Then they come home from the work party and the babysitter is there and she is sweet and twenty-something, but Richard isn’t really giving her too much attention. She asks if he can fix her computer while her dad is out of town, and she lives in the apartment above them (or below, can’t remember). Richard doesn’t think much of it, but his wife does and she places the idea in his head that the babysitter is into him. And get this – the wife is ready to sleep with him right then after the babysitter leaves. And he says NO even though this is all he wants all night long. AGH. This makes me frustrated.

And then you guessed it- hello-oo, babysitter.

So, this book is strictly just a pure sexual fantasy. That’s all it is. I tried to let go of reality a bit while reading to remember this is fiction, this is not real. But it was hard because the author created a character that seemed decent and loves his wife, and then BAM cheats on her. The cheating factor just rubbed me the wrong way and stayed under my skin the entire story, so as much as I tried I couldn’t stop thinking about that. The wife wanted to have some, so why look elsewhere?! Also, the wife is clearly not dumb; doesn’t she know what’s happening? Couldn’t she hear them through the walls? I’m wondering what comes next when the wife finds out. How does this story really end?

I think this is written for men as pure hot fantasy. I saw some other reviews that had the same thoughts as me – all written by women and all bothered by the cheating. I kind of hate to see things like this in print because I don’t like anyone, even in fantasy, making it seem like it’s OK to cheat. Not even OK, but that the desire is even there. Especially if you already have a great love life with the person you chose to have that love life with. Why look elsewhere? Okay, I realize that this story was not meant to anger me or make me ask these questions, but I can’t help it. That’s the reaction I had.

If you are looking for erotica that is well written (because it really is despite my frustrations) and you just want a quick escape then I definitely recommend this.

I hate cheating in books. I feel like its a stupid fantasy. But I guess some people like the thrill of cheating and this is where it was going. But I could see how it was geared towards men but I just find it distasteful. I don’t want to read a fantasy romance where cheating happens, I want a happy ending!!

Happy endings are my favorite romance/fantasy reads as well! A romance doesn’t feel quite the same if all the loose ends aren’t tied up!

      Thanks for commenting, Jaclyn!
